“Locanda nel Borgo” means village inn, but it is located in the vineyards notwithstanding. In fact, in 2004 we moved from the centre of Barolo, which did not suit us any more, to No. 4 Boschetti hamlet, within Lo Zoccolaio farm. It is in an old-style building, restructured in respect of traditional local architecture and yet with an eye for modernity and efficiency, that self-taught chef Massimo Camia has found the perfect context for giving new impetus and inspiration to his revised Piedmontese cuisine.
Massimo and his wife Luciana can rely on skilled kitchen staff and dining room staff. The restaurant works in collaboration with the nearby farmhouse and is housed in a two-storey building. On the ground floor are the toilets, the wine cellar, and a courtyard for outdoor service in the summer, while the kitchen and the dining room are on the first floor. Guests may enjoy an aperitif or after dinner coffee seated in comfort in the modern panoramic conservatory, made of steel and glass, overlooking the estate vineyards. The wine cellar offers a selection of over 500 local, Italian and foreign wines; a special section is dedicated to Barolo. Guests may visit the cellar and choose their wine (some of these wines are served by the glass); they may also buy a few bottles so as to take home a wine that will remind them of the perfumes and flavours of our hills. Because of the delicate and refined taste of our dishes as well as the good rapport which the dining room staff establish with clients, Locanda nel Borgo is a little corner of paradise and visiting us will become a pleasant habit with our guests.
